Claire Lynch

Claire Lynch is a bluegrass musician that was born in Kingston, New York and has lived in Alabama since she was twelve years old. In the 70s, she became a part of a band called Hickory Wind and renamed it the Front Porch String Band. In 1981, the members of the band quit. During the ten years that followed, Claire became a singer and songwriter. Artists such as Patty Loveless, Pam Tillis, and Stephanie Davis have recorded her songs. In 1991, the band reunited and wrote a few albums that received Grammy nominations. These include "Moonlighter," nominated in 1995 and "Silver and Gold," which was nominated in 1997. Claire Lynch's band includes Jim Hurst, who is a guitarist and vocalist, Jason Thomas, who plays the mandolin and fiddle, as well as sings, and Mark Schatz, who is a bass and banjo player.

Claire Lynch's newest album, "Whatcha Gonna Do," was released on September 15, 2009 and contains the songs "Great Day in the Mornin'," "Highway," "That's What Makes You Strong with Jesse Winchester," and "My Florida Sunshine." She has a high pitched voice that has been compared to that of Alison Krauss.

She met the man who became her husband in high school. He was the founder of Hickory Wind. They were married in 1976 and had two children, Kegan and Christy. In 2007, Claire and her husband divorced after twenty eight years of marriage.
