Alison Krauss and Union Station

Alison Krauss was supported by her parents in gaining knowledge of musical instruments. She was captivated and began playing the violin at the age of five. At eight, she had come across the bluegrass fiddle and soon started entertaining at festivals and winning fiddle competitions. Even though her primary acclamation was of being an instrumentalist, soon her voice was capturing people’s awareness.

Barry Bales, the bass player and harmony singer for Alison and Union Station, was raised in Kingsport, Tennessee. His admiration of bluegrass and country music originated with his dad. He became the bassist for Union Station in 1990.

Ron Block has been the divine influence for Alison Krauss and Union Station, adding not only the banjo and guitar, but also a multitude of wonderful songs, mostly of religious faith and dedication. Prior to uniting with Union Station, Ron was affiliated with the Lynn Morris Band and the Weary Hearts.

Jerry Douglass could have been a musical trendsetter on any type of musical instrument. Douglas implemented the relatively ambiguous and unknown Dobro, and that resulted in an exclusive category in American music. By ascertaining the potential of this significant instrument, Douglas has brandished immense influence on bluegrass and its many interrelated genres.

Dan Tyminski is the acoustic guitarist and lead vocalist for Union Station and one of the most dynamic and gifted performers to emerge in the bluegrass setting in years. His exceptional vocal skills and hard driving influential style have merited him with a large audience.
