Alison Krauss And Union Station

Alison Krauss has been involved in the music industry since the age of 10, but her love of music began much earlier. Born in Illinois, she began studying classical violin at the age of five. When she was eight years old, she begin winning local talent contest and 10 years of age she was already in her own band. She is popular today for playing with the band Union Station.

Union Station was first known as The Country Cousins. They have been together for 29 years. The original members of Country Cousins included Johnny and Betty Strawberry, Troy Wyrick, Don Kennedy, Shelia Peterson, Dorothy Roden, Blunt Keith, Lavera Keith and Vic Reynolds. Today, the former Country Cousins is now called Union Station.

Union Station started as a band in 1971 and then joined Alison Krauss in 1989. They released their first album in 1989. The members of Union Station include Allison Kraus on lead vocals, fiddle and violin, Larry Tamarack on drums and percussion, Barry Bales on bass guitar, Ron Block on guitar and banjo, Jerry Douglas on dobra and Dan Tyminski on guitar and mandolin.

Today, at the young age of 35, Alison Krauss and Union Station have a very active career. They have 26 Grammy Awards, multiple Country Music Association Awards and many more accolades. Alison Krauss helped bring the love of bluegrass to a new audience starting in the 1990s. She, along with Union Station, have become a versatile, ambitious and diverse musical team.
